Partnership

The University of Szeged, as Lead Partner, coordinates the organizational and financial activities. Our partner is the only institution on the Romanian side with realistic professional-research competence in the protection of subsurface waters in the border region.

Project

The primary objective of the research presented and applied in this concept and methodology is to lay the basis for the construction and long-term sustainability of medium-enthalpy heat production and energy production systems in the Hungarian-Romanian border region (Oradea-Biharkeresztes) with excellent geothermal features, by exploring the basic hydrogeological data, and elaborating a complex hydrodynamic model.

Project actvities

The scientific relationship of the project partners has a long history; however, they did not cooperate in a joint research project. The concept elaboration began with the selection of the partnership and the organization of a project-starting meeting. The most important preparation activities were the professional conciliations. Within two preliminary meetings, the partner delegates determined the development demands, identified the human, financial and infrastructure potentials, and the project objectives.

Synergy

The project shows synergy with other areal, regional, and urban development concepts due to its effects facilitating sustainable development from the point of view of the environment, and is linked with international, national and local environmental strategies. It transmits a multipliable, economic and advantageous technology in a controllable and studiable form for the local thermal water users and the group of future investors.

Equal opportunities

The project ensure gender equality throughout the planning, the implementation, and the maintenance of project results. More than a half of colleagues participating in project planning and the elaboration of the application material are women. Minimum 10 of the 22 researchers involved will be women. Our partners will guarantee flexible working time in relation to project activities during project implementation.
